So my son is going to a birthday party tomorrow. The girl always says no gifts but I feel she should have something to celebrate her day with. I know she loves owls, so last year I made her an owl necklace which she loved to death (literally, it fell apart because she wore it in the pool all summer long). I fixed it for her but I wanted to give her something a little different this time. I knew I wanted it to be handmade and I wanted to stick with the owl theme so I did a search on Etsy for tutorial/patterns. I came across this adorable little guy and he was perfect because I could use all of the vintage fabrics I've been collecting for years. He was super easy to make and I'm sure many people will be getting these as gifts in the future.

With the summer heat just around the corner, I've come up with a few things that will help get me though the sweltering months ahead.

This hammock chair tops the list. I can just picture me sitting on my porch drinking lemonade and reading a good book.


This lovely dress from Anthropologie just screams summer.


I live in flip flops pretty much year round so its not like I really need another pair but I love the bright colors of Havaianas. So fun:)

And how about this cool gadget. You can't beat an ice cold slushie on a hot day. Frozen lemonade anyone?
